- Niacin may cause a "flush" feeling including tingling, feeling warm, blushing or turning red (usually on the face, ears, neck, or chest).
- This reaction is more common for individuals who have not used niacin-containing supplements before, or for those who are sensitive to niacin. It usually subsides in a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the individual. You can reduce your likelihood of experiencing that reaction by eating a meal before or very shortly after taking a supplement containing niacin, drinking plenty of water, and making sure that your dose is appropriate.
- It may be best to start out with only a portion of a serving and gradually work your way up to your desired dose, allowing your system to acclimate to the niacin.
- We recommend that you consult with a healthcare professional for help determining the best dose of niacin for your individual needs and that you talk with your practitioner about any side-effects your experience while using niacin.
- May affect the action of certain anticoagulants
